Turtle Mound, 14 miles (23 km) south of New Smyrna Beach, was the site of the town of Surruque, belonging to the Surruque people, whose territory extended south to Cape Canaveral. Motorsports on the beach became popular, and the Daytona Beach and Road Course hosted races for over 50 years, replaced in 1959 by Daytona International Speedway. The karts are very well maintained, both DMAX and N35 all seem to be equal, the track itself is high speed but technical and really fun. Over the last few years I’ve competed in many Daytona endurance races, championships and weekend sprint races and when it come to karting Daytona is like no other. At time of writing, £89 per person for the Daytona SODI Sprint Race. You can/should do a 10 min practice followed by the 20/40min race. A perfect send-off for Oli and a day to remember.
